One of the best things about the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster is that you don’t get the feeling of a flexible body courtesy of the missing roof. The rigid chassis and attention to engineering detail ensures a compliant and stiff ride through corners and over rough stretches of road....

When it comes to sheer automotive glamour there are few – if any – car manufacturers that have the goods to go head-to-head with the century-old British sports car manufacturer, Aston Martin. That’s especially true of the all-new Aston Martin Vanquish....

This is where emotion and engineering meet. The Vantage S is built for people who have unrestricted access to sweeping roads, premium fuel and time. I don't. But I understand this car. It's imperfections - loud, firm and awkward at low speeds - are just part of its character and all wash away when you pull on the right-hand paddle and bring up the numeral four on the dash, then five, then six and when the road flattens and stretches, seven....

While brutally fast, and with superb handling balance, the Virage Volante is neither the quickest nor the best handling in its premium sports luxury segment. And it’s not the most practical either. It’s one of the best looking cars on the planet, it sounds fantastic and with that gorgeous interior it’s a pleasure to hop into every time....

One of the best lookers on the road today is not as good as it looks. So the Virage Volante is a good car, and a very distinctive one, but a few pennies short of a pound. Yes, Aston. You make beautiful cars. Now get over it - only a handful of us can afford this. It's a selfish two-seater (plus dog and cat) made for deserted winding roads in cool climates. Aston has a few on the boat and they're all sold - mostly at the expense of the DBS that may be a bit too hardcore for city driving. The Virage is Aston's big-coupe future and more than the other Aston Martin models, follows the owner-friendly line of the Rapide....

Driving the new Aston Martin Virage is not dissimilar to the early 90s movie Groundhog Day. There is no other car I have experienced that gives you a spine tingling rush each and every time you turn the engine over, spot a glance of the car in a shop window or experience automotive nirvana when the exhaust baffles open to emit a noise that will never get old.
Aston Martin has a difficult task on its hands. While the company has been happy of late getting by with the V8 Vantage and DB9, recent times have seen the introduction of the DBS, V12 Vantage, four-door Rapide, V8 Vantage Sport and now the Virage.
The Virage takes its place between the DB9 and the DBS, and aptly so, considering the meaning of the word Virage in French is bend or curve. The Virage has been designed to be a supremely elegant and powerful, yet understated sports car, and I can confidently say that it accurately meets the description....
