I own a Subaru XV CVT and it's brilliant!
I have owned in my time all the major makes of car so I have some experience.
I have owned three Subarus the last being a Forester Turbo Auto.
When it came to buying a new car at the price range I had several choices. Mercedes new A and B Class, BMW 1 series, Mini Countryman, Skoda Yeti, VW Golf and a few others. The Subaru was better than all of these. The new Mercedes B class is still very much "old lady". The new A class looks as though it has been sat on with a crease down the side and the BMW 1 is like sitting in a hole in the ground. The Mini Countryman is a nice car until you start adding the things you need and then the price begins to rocket sky-high. The same can be said for the Mercedes and BMW. I've had several VWs but they are pretty boring and really are the choice of the conservative buyer. I've also had mechanical problems with VW but never Subaru.
The Subaru XV CVT comes with everything. Do not believe any of the reviews. The car has plenty of power and is as smooth as a six cylinder. The CVT is quiet and is a dream to use. It is better than the 6 cylinder auto Mercedes that I used to own. It sticks to the road like glue with it's all wheel drive and it even has flappy paddles that can be used even when you are in "auto". You don't even have to switch to manual.
Subaru XV CVT really glad I bought it.
